Lady Wisdom asks, “Why do you not let love come into the hidden places of your heart so that you can learn how to be wise?”
My instruction is far more valuable than silver or gold. For the value of wisdom is far above rubies; nothing can be compared with it. Proverbs 8:10-11 TLB
There are hidden places
within us that block our ability to gain the wisdom that we need to move
forward. These hidden places in our hearts have been overtaken by squatters that
are contaminating our thoughts. Their work has been to stop the progress of
God’s plan for our lives. Some of these squatters
are fear, pride, arrogance, dishonesty, lack of integrity, fear of the future,
setbacks, stress, frustration, anxiety, worry, depression, pressure, and
seeking approval of others, to name a few.
Whenever Lady Wisdom speaks to us, these other voices contradict what she is saying. Sometimes these voices sound like a trusted friend, parent, or teacher. However, we must be able to develop the skill of discerning the words of these squatters. The devil is the accuser of the brethren. His role is to have these feelings come up, to prevent us from trusting the words of Lady Wisdom.
It is necessary to be
able to listen and know what wisdom is and what it is not. King David in Psalms
51:6 stated, “I know that you delight in setting your truth deep in my spirit. So
come into the hidden places of my heart and teach me wisdom.” Cleaning of the heart has to take place. First, King David admits his sins and asks the Lord to
purify his conscience. He knows that the love God has for him can override all
of these voices and can open up the channel of communication. Second, with a clean heart, he will be able to sing again. Singing has a way of changing the heart, healing of the soul and restoring the emotions. The word says that the joy of the Lord is
our strength. With a clean heart, his joy will be able to give him the power to fight against the negative forces in attacking his heart. Third, He asks for forgiveness. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus teaches his disciples to ask for forgiveness and also for them to forgive others too. It is by grace that we are saved. God’s uncompromising love for us takes care of our sins through Jesus Christ.
Being filled with pure thoughts and holy desires must take up residence in our hearts. God has given
us a new clean heart, and we want to make sure that we do not find ourselves in the place of displeasing God. With a teachable spirit, we will find ourselves
with a passion for life, and we will taste the joy of the Lord as we are held close by the Holy Spirit. Our testimony will help others to recover from the
hidden pain of the heart. We will have a road map that can show others how to find their way back home to God.
Dear Lord, Help me to
hide your words deep in my heart so that I will not do things that displease
you. Amen
