Lady Wisdom asks, “Why do you not let love come into the hidden places of your heart so that you can learn how to be wise?”   My instruction is far more valuable than silver or gold. For the value of wisdom is far above rubies; nothing can be compared with it. Proverbs 8:10-11 TLB There are hidden places within us that block our ability to gain the wisdom that we need to move forward. These hidden places in our hearts have been overtaken by squatters that are contaminating our thoughts. Their work has been to stop the progress of God’s plan for our lives.  Some of these squatters are fear, pride, arrogance, dishonesty, lack of integrity, fear of the future, setbacks, stress, frustration, anxiety, worry, depression, pressure, and seeking approval of others, to name a few. Whenever Lady Wisdom speaks to us, these other voices contradict what she is saying. Sometimes these voices sound like a trusted friend, parent, or teacher. However, we must be able to develop th...

Lady Wisdom asks, “What is it that is causing you to sleep? What has robbed you of your energy?”   A wise youth makes hay while the sun shines, but what a shame to see a lad who sleeps away his hour of opportunity. Proverbs 10:5 TLB There are so many distractions in our society today. These distractions can cause us to sleep and not be aware of the available opportunities. We call these things time robbers. Some of these time-wasters are complaining, gossiping, watching TV, hanging out with negative people, procrastination, and doing unnecessary activities, to name a few. The distractions can be a physical object or a mental diversion that leaves one in a dream state or paralyzed for long periods. Not eating right, not getting exercise, or taking time to plan out the day leaves us open to distractions that steal our ability to focus on what is most important. Our life is experiencing a detour. We become tired and overwhelmed. When we need to be alert and awake, we find our...

Kingdom Building Take a lesson from the ants, you lazy fellow. Learn from their ways and be wise. For though they have no king to make them work, yet they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. Proverbs 6:6-8 TLB Lady Wisdom asks, “Are you tired of doing right, and will you miss your harvest?” I love what Galatians 6:9 TLB states, “And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for, after a while, we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.” We can see this with the ant. It has a determination to labor for the good of the ant community. The ant realizes that if he does his work well now that later he will survive the winter. The goal is to work for the common good of the ant nation. There is something about doing our very best at tasks that we are assigned. Also, accomplishing the goals we have laid out for ourselves. When we compete with ourselves and work on self-improvement, then are we able to move closer to what...

Goodness the Way to Find Life   The man who tries to be good, loving and kind finds life, righteousness, and honor. Proverbs 21:21TLB   Goodness comes from the heart. A person with a heart that is wanting to please God will want to be like God. We know that God is good. It is His nature. If we're going to be like Him, which He told us to do, then we must study how God acts in situations. Goodness is a trait that we must take the time to work out. It requires that we examine our motives and assess our thought toward the situation and people. Asking the question: Why do we do the things that we do? Is it for man’s approval, or is it from the heart? It is our responsibility to pursue doing things that please God. Treating others with kindness and helping others with acts of goodness is what will set us apart from others who say that they love God and want to follow him. People will know us by our love. Our acts of generosity will speak for us. There is a reward to fol...

Goodness Rules! He who shuts his ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in his own time of need. Proverbs 21:13 TLB Lady Wisdom asks, “Why do you ignore the vulnerable and weak among you?” Jesus Christ in his ministry on Earth specially came to change the conditions of the poor and needy. He wanted them to know that they do not have to be poor anymore. The Bible says that He, Jesus went around doing good. He even fed the people and looked out for their well-being. Min istry to the poor is part of the Christian calling. We are to not overlook the poor. Something very troubling in our society is the disregard for the less fortunate. The spirit of greed seems to be rising in the places and institutions that were considered to be a support system for the needy. Churches, schools, hospitals, and government appear to be overtaken by individuals who only see them as ways to make money. It is abusive in nature. These institutions, which use to be people-focused, are now, profit-...
