Blessing of Small Beginnings

The Fruit of Patience

Do not despise these small beginnings for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand. Zechariah 4:10 NLT

Ordinary People by Dannielle Hall “Little becomes much when you place it in the master’s hand.”

Are you an entrepreneur? Do you want to start something new or expand into something new? Then this is the time to not despise the new beginnings but to realize that you have to develop the fruit of patience. Let patience have its perfect work in you. It will take time for things to build. You have to give the seed time to germinate. But by prayer and the word, praise, and worship to God, you will see changes happen. It may start off little by little, but eventually, it will grow into something grand if you stick with it. Have patience!

As a gardener, we are aware of small beginnings because of the seed. A seed is capable of developing into another plant.  So we sow the land with seeds to produce more of what we want to grow. When you look at a seed, it does not seem significant. What can come from this seed? Yet, people who are selling the seed planted it before. They have provided for us a vision of what it can be. By showing a picture on the package, we can determine what the seed has the potential to become. Now each seed produces of its own kind. What I mean by that is that if you are planting a tomato seed, then you will have tomatoes. If you are planting a lemon seed, then you will have a lemon tree. Both are a seed, yet both have a unique assignment or future.

So it is in the garden… so it is in your life. Whatever goal or project you begin starts out like a seed.  Have you ever heard the term seed money? Seed money or seed funding is what is given to you to get started on a project.  It can be generated by friends, family funding, angel funding, and crowdfunding. Seed money is used for starting the beginning stages of a new business, and to the point of launching your product.  Your seed can also be your time. The time that you volunteer and give to others to help them get their business or dream establish will benefit you as well.  Your talent given to an organization or someone in need is also a seed. Therefore, a seed can be your time, talent, and/or treasure (money).

That is what we need to ask God for a seed. He promises to give it to us. Seed to the sower. God is investing in you. He is the one providing the investment in you. He will provide seed in exchange for equity or share in your company or dream. Have you heard the saying, “Don’t eat your seed”? What it means is that the seed or money that you have received has the potential to be used as food to eat now or to plant for a greater harvest. If you devour your seed and do not invest in it, then you would have nothing to put into your business or project. Also, make sure that wherever you place your money that it is "good ground". You can see a return for the effort and work placed in the business or organization. Good seed in the bad ground will never produce a harvest.

The seeds you have may not look significant. People around you may despise your dream of planting a garden. God gave you those seeds, and he does not look down on your faith to plant them. So do not despise the little things that you have right now in the form of a seed. See them as your own small garden that holds your blessings. Disregard what people say and place your seeds in the ground before Jesus. Jesus has the power to grow your seeds and to multiply your harvest.

Whatever you are building right now in your career, home, business, schooling, or even your little garden, don’t despise the day of small, little, humble beginnings. Pray, meditate God’s word and promises to you and allow Jesus’ favor, wisdom, and power to multiply and grow your dream into something beautiful.
