Entering the Peace Zone: Biblical Mindfulness

As I entered my backyard deck, I just wanted to soak in the beauty of the Lord. I just wanted to experience and soak in what God was doing and the newness of the day. There's something about going out into the garden in the morning when everything is quiet when most people are still asleep. Others are busy getting ready for work. I get to absorb in the rays of the sun. I can smell the freshness of the air.

Everything is alive, and the garden is awake early in the morning. The birds are singing. The brilliance of the blooms is apparent because of the dew on the leaves. The opening act of a new day, it's just a beautiful thing. Every day provides a brand unique experience. We can know the greatest of our God by observing the garden. Great is Thy Faithfulness is the song that comes to mind. “Morning by morning new mercies I see...” God's faithfulness is so good!

I want to continue with the idea of peace and specifically, peace in the garden. Biblical meditation through a peaceful quiet time in the garden is the best way to start one’s day. When we take the time to meditate the word of God, then we have peace in our hearts. It establishes and settles within us the confidence that God is in control. Isaiah 26:3 AMP says, “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is committed and focused on You - both inclination and character] because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].”

Constant means faithful, consistent, and it has that idea of something never-ending. To be in a place of everlasting peace, to me, is a compelling position to be in. The way we can have this peace is by focusing on God. The person whose mind is steadfast and focused on God will overcome worry and anxiety. Having lasting peace begins in the brain and thoughts. This is about a positive mindset. The question is: “What are you thinking about?” We can stay in the “peace zone” if we remain mindful of our Savior Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
