Things
that Choke the “Faith Seeds”
“But the worries of this life and
the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the
Word making it unfruitful, Mark 4:19 NIV."
We all have some problem or concern that distracts us and overwhelms our thinking. It is called the cares of this world found in Mark 4:19, the parable of the sower. So even though we may be sowing edible faith seeds into our garden (heart), problems (weed seeds) can come in and cause us to worry. We lose faith in God, and we
begin to worry. The next step is that we will probably look for a solution in
our own strength rather than hold on to the answer that God will provide.
There is frustration when we try to provide for everything we need by
ourselves. We become self- sufficient rather than child-like and depend on God
and His way of being and doing things. We sing the song, “I did it my way!”
Be teachable and change your way of
thinking.
However
Jesus said in Matthew 18:2-10 TPT, “Learn this well: Unless you dramatically
change your way of thinking and become teachable, and learn about heaven’s
Kingdom realm with the wide-eyed wonder of a child, you will never be able to enter
in. Whoever continually humbles himself to become like this gentle child is the
greatest one in heaven’s kingdom realm… Be careful that you not corrupt one of
these little ones. For I can assure you that in heaven, each of their angelic
guardians has instant access to my Heavenly Father.”
Changing the way we think and
becoming teachable will lead us into a brighter, more glorious future. Learning
about kingdom way or having a kingdom-mindset requires that we retrain our minds
to think a different way. The term that is being used for this is called Mindfulness. We must continually strive
to look to what God has to say about a matter. If God has decreed a thing about
our life and wrote a promise in His word, then we must declare it and
believe it by faith.
