Our Life Is a Garden: We Harvest What We Plant

What we plant is what we harvest. When we plant edible seeds of faith, then a harvest of goodness will come forth. The harvest reveals what we have sown. If we have sown faith seeds, then we will reap faith produce (the Fruit of the Spirit). In our faith seed packet are different types of seeds that grow well together like love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

On the other hand, there are evil seeds of fear. In the fear seed packet are anxiety, worry, fear, depression, pressure, regret, stress, frustration, self-criticism, seeking approval of others, fear of the future, and unexpected setbacks. These seeds grow fast like weeds and can spread quickly if the garden of our hearts is not tended.

Galatians 6:4-10 MSG
"Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that…Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others- ignoring God – harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.

So let us not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time, we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get a chance, let us work for the benefit of all starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith."

You reap what you sow. "My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." This is the heart of the Gospel and spreading the Kingdom message. As we take care of God’s kingdom and God’s work or needs, He will take care of our needs. We can take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith!

We have a responsibility to monitor what we are thinking about. Proverbs tells us, "As a man thinks so, is he." So, what are you thinking about? What seed words are you planting in your spiritual garden? Will it produce good fruit or bad fruit? Everyone wants a good harvest, but they may not be ready to do the work of seedtime and harvest. The law of seedtime and harvest must be fulfilled to be able to produce in any area of our lives, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, intellectually, and physically.

How do you plant edible faith seeds? It is through the process of Biblical Meditation. You may ask, “What is biblical meditation?” It is the mindfulness of thinking about the word of God and putting it into practice. Changing our mindset takes courage. However, doing the work required in the process of seeding the word, watering it with prayer and praise and harvesting the blessings will bring great rewards. Don't give up and quit! Great things are ahead. Amen
