BNN Episode 17How to Gain Wealth through Giving
Lady Wisdom and Giving
“Honor the
Lord by giving him the first-part of all your income and he will fill your
barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines.”
Proverbs 3:9, 10, Living Bible
Lady
Wisdom asks, “What do you believe and invest in?”
How do we honor someone? If we think
that someone is worthy of our attention or respect then we honor them with our
time, talent or money. Whatever we respect gets our attention. Giving to that
thing is easy because we want more of it. Whatever we want more of we are willing
to honor.
Respecting the Lord will get us more wisdom. One of the ways that we demonstrate this respect is by honoring him with our finances. Proverbs 3:9, 10 (Living Bible) states, "Honor the Lord by giving him the first part of all your income and he will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines." I clearly understand the first part of this verse which is "honor the Lord by giving..." There is something about giving to others which makes us feel good. Giving gifts to the ones we love fills us with satisfaction especially when they demonstrate appreciation for what we have given. The next part of this verse states, "...the first part of all your income..." I believe that putting aside that first part of your income shows your acknowledgement of the Lord as your source and provider. In Malachi it speaks of the tithe, 10 percent of your income. Whatever we believe in we are willing to invest our money into it. Maybe looking at our finances closely will determine what we value most. What is the first thing that I do or think of doing first with my money when I receive my pay check? The last part of this verse states that there is a reward for honoring the Lord with our finances. The Lord will "fill" us and "overflow" us with more. I believe that the Lord will give us wisdom to create wealth.
The person who stands out in my mind as a giver is Oprah Winfrey. It seems that the more she gives the more she is filled up and she has an overflow of success. There are other people who give and have foundations. They never seem to have a lack of resources. It seems that giving is a principle which keeps opening up opportunity for more. I also think that asking the Lord to direct your giving first will bring about multiplication of your resources. Asking the Lord first. Where should I give? How can I honor you, Lord with my giving? If we believe Lady Wisdom, then we should see increase in whatever we do!

Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I want to honor you by giving. Thank you for multiple increase in blessings!
